It was taking too long to complete media inventory for the microbiology department in the laboratory.
To decrease the amount of time it takes to perform media inventory in the microbiology department from 75 hours/year to 37.5 hours/year (50% decrease) by September 17, 2010.
- Visual Aids were developed by staff for quick inventory check
- Moving the expiration date to the top of the media package resulted in easier and faster inventory checks
- Pull tabs provided a much simpler inventory and reorder process and was a good visual aid
