In August 2008, Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), approved the creation of a corporate university, the CTCA Center for Learning (CFL). The CFL serves as a shared educational resource for all CTCA hospitals and the corporate headquarters, allowing for enterprise-wide course development and distribution.
Mirroring the CTCA Vision, to be recognized and trusted by people living with cancer as the premier center for healing and hope, the CFL Vision is to be recognized as the premier corporate university providing unmatched learning opportunities to CTCA Stakeholders further enabling the delivery of unparalleled service and care to the patients that we are so privileged to serve.
The CFL Mission is to offer innovative and transformational learning opportunities that will inspire and enable every stakeholder to achieve peak performance, and to have a direct and measurable impact on the performance of the enterprise.
To ensure quality standards, the CFL adheres to the Kirkpatrick model of Evaluation (Reaction, Learning, Behavior, Results). The first Kirkpatrick level, Reaction, is measured by asking a Net Promoter Score (NPS®) question: Would you recommend this course to a friend or colleague? The second Kirkpatrick level, Learning, is measured using pre and post tests, or through participant surveys. The third Kirkpatrick level, Behavior, is measured through retention and behavioral change. The fourth Kirkpatrick level, Results, is measured by calculating cost savings and revenue generation associated with course delivery.
Course: A3 Performance Improvement Program
This course (students attend classroom training 2 hours/week) provides an introduction to the principles and foundational tools of Lean process improvement. During the course, Stakeholders work on completing an improvement project, applying the tools provided in class to identify and eliminate waste in order to provide higher quality patient care services. Upon completion of A3 Performance Improvement training, students must present their project during a formal graduation. Post graduation, Stakeholders have the knowledge and skills to continuously incorporate Lean methodologies into their day-to-day work as well as work on post graduate A3 projects.
